SOUTH TARANAKI QUARRIES

LOCK IN UTLRALOK®

Since moving to Ultralok bucket teeth and adapters back in 2018, South Taranaki Quarries (STQ) haven’t lost a single tooth off any of their machines.

They say Ultralok® has saved them time, and maybe even a crusher catastrophe.

Before moving to the Ultralok system, STQ quarry supervisors David Meyer and Tony Dowd had regularly experienced bucket teeth falling off across their sites.

Frustratingly, this meant immediately shutting down production to hunt out the missing tooth, because if a piece of metal that size were to go through their crushers it could be “catastrophic”.

While Tony appreciates the Ultralok’s ability to stay in place on his buckets, he’s also a fan of how easy they are to change in and out.

Unlike most teeth that require a hammer and punch to drive the pin out, Ultralok teeth can be removed and installed with a prybar.

Tony says this allows his STQ crew to change the outside two teeth on the go, as these get the most wear when ripping into the hard Taranaki rock.

The UltraLok system can be adapted to fit any bucket in your fleet.

South Taranaki Quarries consists of three fully consented quarry sites dotted along the Taranaki coastline from Opunake to Nukumaru. They supply all of Taranaki and the Manawatu, with an extended supply for critical infrastructure projects across the Lower North Island from New Plymouth to Kapiti Coast.
